San Diego County Firestorm Response

The largest evacuations in the history of California were well underway when Noah's Wish opened its shelter at Qualcomm Park only six hours after being asked by San Diego County Animal Control to respond. First responders began organizing the hundreds of animals being brought in by evacuees from every part of San Diego County. Our first response trailer was on site within 12 hours of the call and a caravan of command and supply vehicles left Northern California to join the team early the next day.
These fires were immense. The two largest, Harris and Witch had a combined total of 284,000 acres burned with 1238 structures damaged or destroyed. At one point a half-million people were evacuated.
